Miss World 2021 is the 70th edition of this prestigious pageant and 97 women are vying for the crown. The winner will be the first new Miss World queen since 2019, when Jamaica’s Toni-Ann Singh won the title. The pageant’s 2020 edition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The final is tonight, December 16, 2021 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica will crown her successor at the end of the event.
There have been competitions leading up to the grand finale that allowed contestants to earn their spot in the Top 30 early. One of those competitions was the swimsuit competition (Miss World Beach Beauty), which made a return after a five-year hiatus.
Another was the the Head to Head Challenge, where 16 group challenge winners, as voted for by the public, went Head to Head to secure a place in the semi-final of Miss World 2021.
The final decision was based on two speeches. Each contestant was given two minutes to talk about their Beauty with a Purpose projects; they were judged on how well they could deliver and convey their purpose. Next, each contestant was invited to become an Ambassador for Puerto Rico and tell the world why everyone should visit this wonderful island.
