Miss America Joins Special Olympics for Capitol Hill Day

Each winter, Special Olympics organizes an advocacy day called Capitol Hill Day. During this time, Special Olympics athletes (people with intellectual disabilities (ID), Program leaders, Unified Sports partners, teachers, clinicians, family members and volunteers from across the United States convene to meet with Members of Congress on Capitol Hill. Typically, Special Olympics U.S. Programs travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with their state’s Members of Congress in person. However, due to COVID-19, all meetings for Capitol Hill Day 2022 were held virtually. Miss America, Emma Broyles, had the honor of being a special guest.

The timing of Capitol Hill Day is strategically chosen to coincide with the period of time during which Members of Congress in the U.S. hear recommendations from their constituents for the next fiscal year’s budget.

Keep up the amazing work, Emma!
